About the AuthorKetty Alvarez Cook was born in Lima in 1958. She studied architecture at the Universidad Particular Ricardo Palma and led studies of landscape and painting and is a lover of nature. Her true vocation as a writer, however, emerged after several years of professional practice. It started with short stories she shared with her young daughters until, animated by her family and friends, she decided to expose her first book, The Queen of the Marzipan (Editorial San Marcos, 2002). Later she wrote The Wings of the Night and Close to the Forest of Casuarinas, stories edited by this publishing house, with beautiful messages of life useful not only for children. She teaches science and theater at San Patricio School, Lima, Peru.
About the TranslatorTracy Chadbourne was born in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1970. She is a professional educator specializing in the Spanish language. She received her master’s in bilingual education from National University in 2005 and her bachelor of arts in English from the University of Memphis in 1996. She loves teaching and is a committed and motivated educator with experience in all grades from first through the university level. She currently works at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, California.
About the ArtistKatherina Illescas was born in Lima in 1987. After a year of studies, she changed the career of graphic design for music. She performs and plays saxophone with her band in several events, recording even some compact discs. Currently she studies music and art at the Northern Illinois University. Painting and music are her real passions.
