by Maria D. Collette and Andrea Evonne Billings

Blanc Et Noir is a book of modern-day love poetry written by two older women—one black and one white. They recount their real-life experiences, both romantic and sexual, in easy-to-read verse. Young women will especially enjoy this poetry, and even older women may identify with the authors. Some men may enjoy this poetry, as they are the objects of these poems. Blanc Et Noir is a book of love poetry that will be read with pleasure and treasured for years to come.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Maria D. Collette and Andrea Evonne Billings met over twenty-five years ago at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken. Andrea was there for depression and Maria for bipolar manic depression. Both are older women who were once married. Andrea has four children — three girls and a boy — and Maria has two sons. Andrea went to business school and worked for a time in several offices. Maria graduated from Jersey City State College and taught kindergarten for a few years.

Andrea is black and Maria is white — hence the title Blanc Et Noir. Andrea and Maria have different styles in writing their poetry. Both, however, express themselves in verse that is honest and true to life.
